Geekification step 1

- What's the first step to being a geek? Glasses.
- How do you dress to make people view you as a professional? Office-lady look with glasses.
- What do glasses give an element of? Trust.
- If your client trusts you, you get... Money.
- So if you want big money, you go spend a little sum on? Glasses.

I in fact have 20/20 eyesight but these framed glasses seem to be "teh fashion" right now. I just had to get a pair after seeing Amber with hers.
Well, it's fake. The glasses are just plain clear plastic, I got it from a jewellery store where they were selling sunglasses and it costed $20 NZD. My friends think I'm nuts but my sister, also with 20/20 eyesight, likes them too and wore them to hospital yesterday so she'd look more "pro" as well.
I'm blogging with my flash new glasses on but they actually... Make my world look... Small and... Framed...
And unfortunately, sometimes it gives me gigantic eyes so to avoid that I have to constantly smile so my eyes become smaller. All in all, it's for a good deed, and here's my theory:
Glasses >> Geek >> "Pro" Image >> Trust >> Money.

Almost all my glass-wearing life I was hoping to get to not have to wear them... now I just got a new frame
Very similar o the one you show above, just completely black. -

Those glasses are way too sexy to pass as geek. Go for something with thicker rims!
-

Yah, Jordie has a point...the black-frame glasses tend to emanate COSMOPOLITAN SOPHISTICATE, not POCKET PROTECTION GEEKERY. Other than that the flow chart is completely right.
I would wear my glasses (just like those) a lot more often if 1) my face/eyes weren't crooked so they look just the *slightest* bit odd, and 2) if everybody else wasn't wearing them. :p -

Hey guys, stop demolishing my dream ok? Sexy and professional at the same time is all good.
I don't see a lot of people wearing them here. -

I would wear glasses if I could only find a pair that would fit my face.
My brother looks super geekish since he got them.
-

My glasses are similar to that, minus the frame at the bottom of the lens. Don't worry, I won't demolish it.
I honestly want to get rid of my glasses because:
glasses + good grades + computer freak at home = the names of nerd / geek are associated with my face =(
but then again without my glasses I look entirely weird, so I still love them =D -

I demand a picture so we can gauge the geekiness you exude with those glasses on!
-

Like Tracey, I demand evidence! Great move though. There's something so wonderful about wearing glasses. They make you look intelligent (and feel it too!). I stopped wearing mine for a while (I think it was because so many people laughed at my madness) but there's an inexplicable attraction to them.
I hope you have fun wearing your glasses, Rilla.
-

Well, I'm glad you like them but I've never been fond of mine. I'd love to have perfect vision without them but I've been told I'm legally blind without them; things get really blurry.
I think it's funny. More and more people are saying what you say but, in all of my experience, all it has gotten me is ridicule and teasing.
It isn't fair. The people that have to wear glasses get teased about it (the bad side) but the people that don't need them get all the good things that occur with it.
Trade? -

Those frames look so hot! I don't have perfect vision, but I hate wearing my glasses so I only wear them when I have to. You're lucky you can choose!
A lot of people look smarter with glasses 8-) -

I have really, really bad vision. My number is increasing a bit every year, I have astigmatism, and I'm partially colorblind. I don't like glasses because mine are ugly and I like contacts. But I do agree, glasses make you look smarter.
I'm probably legally blind, too, like Skye. -

xD I've never heard that type of argument for glasses before. I've had glasses all my life, and I'm so used to them. :3 But I'm not really the thick-rimmed type though; I usually have wire rimmed glasses, which I guess don't look that professional.
I've been told the exact opposite actually. xD People keep telling me I should get contacts. -

Haha, glasses are sexy, as in, naughty secretary or librarian =D
I had to get glasses recently because I'm very shortsighted, I complained at first but I got used to the sexy+pro look ;) -

lol looks good with glasses
but makes you look "Geek"? naa... "pro" yes... XD -

lawl, you're the only person I know of who actually WANTS glasses XD
-

Those glasses look absolutely adorable to wear! I have actually never found glasses with the clear plastic for people to just wear. All the glasses (regardless of any store you look at) are prescription.
Anyways, you are now joining the very few elite people that I know actually want to wear glasses
. I used to be in this category until I had glasses and so I dropped out! You are also the first person I have heard of that has 20/20 vision. That is amazing! -

20/20 vision? I'm jealous. I've inherited my dad's bad eyesight, so all of my family either wears contacts or glasses, besides my mom, who only has reading glasses. I have boring frames though. I'm too attached to change my frames (I've had this 'style' of frames since I first got my glasses in 1st grade) so boring frames it is!
-

I tried my coach's glasses the other time and everyone was like, "you look good!" Hers was like what you posted and mine's frameless. I've got to change my glasses soon - they're so old. Unlike you, I'd like to try contacts... but really now, you have no reason to wear contacts with your perfect vision.
-

Amber looks prettifullll.
-

Haha, I think I look like a geek with or without glasses (: (:
-

I like your logic there. Glasses = more money!
I need to get following this trend. The only problem is, I look a bit scary with glasses on. And my parents think it's completely illogical to wear them when I too have 20/20 eyesight.
Ah well. I'm happy for you. I will have glasses... one day...
-

I love glasses, I love geeky boys that wear glasses and they look so cute... but unfortunately, I could never wear a pair of glasses for more than 5 seconds. I hate how it feels resting on my nose... I'm so damned fidgety, I can't even wear rings!
-

Ahahaha yeah I know what you mean by looking more professional with glasses on. I was at an optometrist to get my eyes checked and it turns out I am the slightest bit long sighted but all in all I don't need glasses. Anywho, I was going around trying on glasses and I actually felt and looked more professional wearing glasses lol. And as I was trying on different glasses my brother was going on about how when I'm finally doing architecture I'm gonna have to wear glasses even though I don't need them JUST to gain trust from everyone. YAY for glasses!!!
*glasses —-> professional appearance —-> $$$

Cute glasses! I love geeky glasses, I swear, next time I'm getting myself a pair.
Sigh, I'm so envious of your (and Amber's) perfect vision and that you have the luxury of wearing glasses as an accessory. I have needed to wear glasses since about the age of 12 and I hate it!
