Aussies are viciouzzzz

They eat paper trees. They spit words like no tomorrow.

The Income Tax Assessment Act... now bulges at an unwanted world record of 5,000 pages. It has an unfriendly numbering system. Puzzle over the ponderous s 159ZZZZH.

5,000 pages? Like really, if it was Harry Potter I'd be fine with it. But Income Tax Assessment... Well, crazy Aussies certainly love their taxes. Try saying "s 159ZZZZH":

  1. section one five nine quadruple zed eich haych
  2. section one five nine zed zed zed zed eich haych
  3. section one five nine zzzzzzzzzzzz eich haych

Now imagine judges and politicians speaking with reference to that section in court or the parliament.

Try weighting the Corporations Act. It comes in at over 3 kgs... Compare that to the mere 300 gms of the Canadian statute.

For you Imperial people, 3 kg is approximately 6.61 pounds. I'm weak. I use 1.5 kg dumbbells. I could train myself buff with the Australian Corporations Act.

An Australian judge complained in the High Court of a sentence that went on for over 450 words of small print, spanning 25 lines. And it had no punctuation whatsoever to assist the reader.

*sigh* Aussies.

They are abusing the English language! The paper! The trees! At least we kiwis don't harm the environment so much for what they call "sheep-shagging" in New Zealand.

NZ FTW.

Guess who did taxation law last semester and is currently doing corporations law this semester? *suffers*

To put it in perspective, we have two textbooks for corporations law. One is the materials and commentary; standard textbook stuff. The other is purely the corporations legislation. The number of pages of the latter textbook is 13,199. I've never had a textbook, or ANY book of that size.

Or taxation system is also one of the most complicated in the world. It's torture studying it, and I really wish I hadn't. :(

Yay, we Canadians save trees and protect the English language!

Thank you for reaffirming how awesome we are :P

@Belinda: Have fun. That's the reason I would definitely not choose any Australian university to go to for student exchange.

@Kaylee: When you're a judge, I'd like to hear you say "s fifteen 9 quack zomg" in your judgment. :D

    @Aussies: Bring it on... GRRR.

Aww! If you come here on exchange you don't have to do those subjects! :P IP law, jurisprudence, torts, dispute resolution etc are lots of fun and require a lot less reading!

    My dear Cheryl.
Aussies do not pronounce the letter "H" like the rest of the world.
Instead of "eich" they pronounce it *shock* "haych"
Just think of it like this:
    The World: Burger King
    Ozz-traalia: Hungry Jacks

I was going to make a sheep joke, but I see someone already beat me to it.

Americans murder the english language too. Everytime I get on the internet, it seems it's being murdered more and more each day.

As for the environtment, I see trees being cut down everyday in the name of progress. I moved to TX a little over a year and half ago, and since then I've seen at least 50 acres of trees cut down around my town to make room for new housing developments.

*is proud of having little to do with taxes*

*is proud to leave in the other side of the world*

5,000 pages is insane, and that numbering system is probably the only thing worse than the 5,000 pages. When I first saw it I read "section a hundred and fifty nine zee zee zee zee eich", and then I lolled :P

I thought it was meant to be Wales with the 'sheep-shagging'. :S Or maybe they use that term to mean something entirely different with regards to them!

That is... a lot of pages. (And huzzah to the Harry Potter reference in there!)

Wait, I've never heard of that. (Yes, naive I am.) Thanks for the enlightenment, nevertheless.

But c'mon, what do you have against us Aussies?

Everyday Australians do not harm the environment as much as everyday Americans. (Okay yes, I've lost the point completely . . . ) Indeed, our nation, as being industrialised, does have certain flaws.

That said d'ya know that New Zealand is one of the major sources of immigration to Australia? ;)

Of course, it's not a public announcement or anything; simply what I read from school.

It wasn't meant to be anything directly offensive either. Plus, have you not heard that 'New Zealanders who move to Australia raises the IQ of both countries'?
