A break or something

First-year uni ends in a week. It's been such a boring, stressful year, what with constant pressure from parents and all. No driving until I get into law, no going out with friends until I get into law, no boyfriend until I get into law, no perming, no movies, no freedom until I get into *singing* law, law, law. Stuff it. I could perform better if they give me a break or something. I haven't been out with my friends since the mid-year holidays in July, and they think all the males are out there to kill me. I will officially dub my present life Gee Eich Eee Wai. And if I don't actually get into second-year law next year, well then, I think the rest of my life would be dubbed "GHEY".
So how ironic. I'm going to take a "break", but in actual fact it means hard work. And when hard work is over, this break will end. It's me trotting sluggishly along with the exams-therefore-blog-hiatus crowd. That's joining Xuan, Autumn and Chien Yee's gang. My attempt to work like a nerd.
I know it won't actually work. I'm still going to hangout daily on MSN, blogs and forums. But it should give a slight psychological effect: quit blogging will do better; and it might actually make me do five marks better in total. Hell ends at 12.30pm on 3 November. Hopefully, life will be better.

Who needs friends when you can have textbooks??
Good luck with your non-blog life! I shall await your return. I hope you get into second year law
-

Eeps. x.x Well, good luck, and I will be waiting to congratulate you once you get into 2nd year law. =]
-

@Belinda: I'm in first-year law. They slash the 1500 first-year law students down to 200-300 next year. o_o
-

Oh wow... harsh! O_O
-

Good luck getting into your second year!
1500 —> 300 is completely insane O.O -

Good luck. Don't study too hard. Have some fun if possible.
You'll be a second-year law student before you know it. -

Wow, working hard! I should take you as an example of academic responsibility. Oh well. I hope you do well during this break! And don't take to much time off, I'll miss you!
-

Hey Cheryl I'm sure you'll be accepted as part of the minority of 2nd-year law students. Just have confidence in yourself

And yeah, don't be too hard on yourself. The mind cannot operate to its full potential without a break once in a while. So relax for a bit and then go full-throttle for the remaining stretch.
You can do it ;) -

Law sounds really scary o_o;; Well you know I worked hard to get into 2nd year pharmacy last year but I didn't get in, and now I'm in biochem and my life's not exactly "ghey" but not optimal definitely.
-

That culling sounds way harsh. :S Good luck, I'm sure you won't need it!
-

Good luck! Your parents.. are strict (and I thought mine were strict enough).
Look, I'm at your blog - so not part of the hiatus. -

To me, hell just begun. But everyone had this kind of moments with parents and school.
-

Wow, that's harsh. Parents often don't know what's right, yet they've got the authority... so what they say goes. Ultimately, you should do what you love, but it doesn't always work out so well >_> Good luck! I wish you all the best... and do take at least one day off to RELAX!
-

I can't even imagine the amount of work involved in studying law! My brain wants to explode just thinking of it!
Best of luck to you. It really does sound like you need a break more than anything else right now. -

Eh, I hate it when parents just restrict you, even if they do think it's in your "best interests". Bleargh. Twelve days until exams! -shakes you- But I agree with Courtney - take a day off.

Just as forewarning - I'm pretty much banning myself from anything Internet, apart from "relevant" websites. Let's see how that goes.
BUT! Good luck and best wishes for your exams! -squish- Since I probably won't get to talk to you before they begin ... ehh ... -

Good Luck! and i know i need it too!
i'm almost in the same situation... except i don't even have a job yet
well... let's all go down the same road together! *upside down... at the other end of the world* -

I see my name
Good luck. Yeowch. From 1500 to 300? thats seriously ouch. -

"1500 first-year law students"?? WOW - that's a lot. They do the slashing here too though
When I study in the library I see so many students that study law and I really wonder how all of those get a job (and if).
I'm so happy my parents don't put pressure on me. I put it on myself and it works just fine. My parents are just happy I study and know I'll do fine... no freedom is ouch.
Good luck with everything! -

Sigh... I am heading the same road as you, it completely sucks
I can imagine how much parents want their children to be the best but hey, it benefits us?
Anyway, Good Luck on your studies and you should pass at ease
-

Parents can be tough and in some cases really harsh, but it's usually because they want the best for you. I know I want the best for my son, but because he's mentally challenged, I have to watch how hard I push him.
Try to look at it from a different perspective. How would your life turn out if your parents weren't so hard on you? I'll give you an example. My parents were very hard on my brother and I. We both graduated college, we both are sucsessful in our carreers, we both own homes, cars, etc and provide for our families. My cousins who are very close to us in age had a different upbringing. My aunt and uncle didn't push their kids or challenge them. The oldest is a car salesman who didn't finish college. The middle child has a degree in psychology, but sells houses and lives with my aunt and uncle. The youngest is still in college and has been for 5 years, and I wonder if he'll ever graduate. -

Yeah. I agree with the pushing. Not to be all up-myself etc. but there are obvious differences between me and this friend of mine. I would probably be a crazy lil kid without my parents but I also think I am old enough now to deserve a bit of break when I'm stressed out from my studies.

-

It's so weird to hear you talking about your semester ending. Here in Canada, ours just started in September. But on the other side of the world, it's different. Good luck on your last few weeks.
-

Yikes, that's an insane cut. I hope everything works out for you, and that you're among the lucky 300.
I'm a bit familiar with the concept "thou shall not have no life if you wish to succeed in life" - my mother used be a lot like that when I was younger. She was always pushing me to do more, rarely letting me hang out with friends and "all that nonsense". Eventually things changed. Even though the pressure is still there (oddly enough, not at all from my mother and more just self-created) I've learned that a balance always needs to be struck. You need to allow time to chill, and time to go work-crazy.
Either way, I wish you the best of luck with everything! As you said, first year ends soon - At least that's something to be positive about.
-

hey, me too

-

I wish you the best of luck with exams and getting into second year Law school. Don't study too hard. Allow yourself to have breaks, and you'll do fine.
-

Good luck with it! I hope you'll do well! And won't you have time to hang out with friends at the weekends?
It sucks that your parents won't let you do those things.
Hopefully you'll have time to do those things later, though. -

Lol good luck with that, you certainly seem to have more willpower than I do

Good luck with law, I know how crazy those kind of pressure expectations can be as I'm dealing with my own here.
We're in the middle of first semester midterms and I'm already bored of studying, lol. Ah well, the life of a student. -

I do the same thing. A break from web means working in school
Good luck! Hope to see you back soon (: -

omg this site sucks......
your layout omg worst blog one i ever saw shit blogger got better ones than your shit
and ..... your pic you look like after every meal you have to puke?
i give this site
100 piles of heaping shit
-

And yet you have provided no site to prove that your site is better than mine. Plus no photo to show that you look anything better than puke itself.
-

ROFL! Beaver, what an ass you are. Ahah, you go Rilla! That's the way to counter =D
Aww man D: GOOD LUCK GETTING INTO SECOND YEAR!! You can do it
! *cheers you on* -

I did this all the time during finals. I'd promise not to post anymore (didn't) and that I'd concentrate on school and exams... and I ended up wasting eons on various websites, forums

-

that is my site bitch you look worst then puke sorry but some one has to tell you and a pic of me find it on there
ok thanks and oh yah the beaver was me and thats what you like to eat -

OH! That's really harsh. Is that a rule you enforce, or a rule enforced by parents? The stress seems terrible either way, but I guess it is what it is. Good luck with law.
-

that is my site bitch you look worst then puke sorry but some one has to tell you and a pic of me find it on there
ok thanks and oh yah the beaver was me and thats what you like to eat -

Oh yes Rilla, forgot to tell you pajamasam70 and Ms Barbi Lee of "Mystical Drama" share the exact same IP. Thought you'd like to know

-

^ what the fuck are you talking about i dont know who the fuck barbi is you fucking faggot i am useing proxys to get on your site so you all cant see my ip faggots -

Dear pajama,
I think you need to learn that using a proxy doesn't mean that no IP address shows up.
Sincerely
Vera -

Tsk tsk. Proxies don't stop IPs getting tracked and recorded.
Yeah it's ok though. Someone looking like puke is more stupid than someone looking worse than puke. -
