Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows

Like many others, my sister and I got this famous book on the day it was released in bookstores. But while my sister finished it on the day, I only recently did (after leaving it in my bottom drawer cabinet for three months). Considering myself as a dedicated Harry-Potter-series lover, I am indeed a social failure. Though, better late than never!

I found it really exciting throughout. It's impressive how J.K. Rowling managed to link such a long story together from the first to the seventh book and resolve all the mysteries by the end of everything.

Contrary to popular distaste for the epilogue, I liked it. Well, I've always liked the "happily after scene" after a good story.

I have yet to make my Reading Log entry for this, and I'll write more thoughts for it when I do. Hopefully by the end of my summer holidays (until 3 March) I will have completed the entire Harry Potter series again.

For those who are not into Harry Potter: If a book series could be so popular that readers of all genders/sexual orientations/ages/sizes/blah across the globe are into it, it means it's definitely worth your time to have a try.

(... Did I just spend all that time manually upgrading WordPress and then remember I had the WordPress Automatic Upgrade plugin? Ahhh *swears*)

HISSSSS! I don't think I can be your friend anymore. :(

Good to know you enjoyed the book though... it's not my favourite but I wasn't disappointed. :)

I always hated people for saying that Harry was going to die but I wish he had (and properly not life-death-life). :P

Heh, don't worry Rilla I'm on your side. I liked a big dollop of sap at the end. Don't worry, everything turns out okay after that! Nice things happen! So on. It's children's literature, guys. Happily ever-after is how all the good ones end.

Harry Potter 7 didn't end like I thought it would, but it was a good book. I figured that Rowlings would kill both of them to prevent any other author from trying to bring them back. But I was still a little disappointed. I still had questions, but then I tend to over think stories and stuff.

Oh, thanks for the plugin. I am going to love it. See you help me and you don't even know it, lol.

Yay! I thought I was one of the only that liked the epilogue xD I grew up with this series... It's like my childhood has ended. I hope Rowling will write more!

I love your layout, especially the colour scheme. What kind of font did you use for your header?

I bought the book the day after it came out, and I think I took about a week to read it. I can't believe your sister finished it in a day! Did she not sleep?

Overall I liked the book, but did find the epilogue a little unsatisfying.

I liked the epilogue too! XDDD If a book doesn't reassure me that the story has a happy ending, I will always have the sense that it's not finished, or that it's not satisfying.

Poor Snape T-T and poor Ariana! I really liked her =(

I really enjoyed the final book too. Before it came out I tried to read the series through again, but I found it really difficult. I'm not sure why :|

    Ahh, not really... :P

Did you know any spoilers beforehand? I assume you did... wouldn't it ruin the suspense??

I don't ever read Harry Potter books but I do watch the movies even though they sometimes don't follow the book. But I heard that book was good so enjoy ! =]

I betrayed myself and visited a spoiler community on LJ and got all the goss before the book came out. Was laughing my arse off throughout the entire thing - I found the actual story alright. It was the darkest and most emo of the books, which I was expecting, but then JK fudged it with stuffing the eminent Elderwand in there. What the crap?

The only bit I liked was the battle between Harry and Voldie; you could tell JK was writing it as she envisioned it on the silver screen. All it is, is Harry prancing around going "I know something you don't knowww ..." and Voldie narrowing his eyes.

Epilogue was very cheesy, I could've melted it and had it on pizza, but with the fact that DH was the end of a saga, cheesy was in order.

That aside, thanks for the plug-in link!

I love Harry Potter too! Whoot for Harry Potter geeks! However, I haven't read the last book yet due to my extraordinary laziness. UGH.

    Kendra, check the Credits page.

I avoided all spoilers. All I knew was that people were dying fast. :P

Xuan, I could actually tell she was writing it for the screen throughout the whole story and I bet it wasn't just psychological effect. That was one thing I didn't like because it turned out less natural than the earlier books.

I thought it was okay, but wasn't as tearjerking at the 5th and 6th books for me. ):
Epilogue was poorly written for me, especially since I found out more information on them when JK did the interview.

I still find it hard ti believe that someone can read such a huge book in one day.

Really? Lots of people around me did it! Off the top of my head I can count three who finished that book on the day it was out! :D

I almost needed 3 months to finish HP 7, that was because I am lacking time to really read a book. Some years ago I would only have needed 2 days or so.

I also loved the epilogue! I thought it was adorable.

Screw all of the people who hate Harry Potter for no good reason other than people love Harry Potter more than them.

I'm still not a HP fan ^^ somehow I am uninterested due to its thickness lol. And I've read only until the 4th book.

Well, I can read the HP books in one day. Not all seven in one day of course, but I can read each book in one day. Some people are just naturally fast reader and some people are not. Personally, I had a harder time in school because I read faster then most of the other children. So I can't really say whether reading fast is a good or a bad thing.

I don't read the HP books. I guess I just didn't ever feel like keeping up with the series. I like to read, but I never liked series books as well. I don't know, I'm just weird I guess. I like the HP movies though.

I happened to read the first book, but I didn't really find what was so interesting about it. It didn't really want to make me read the rest, but I guess there's different tastes in everybody. Like any other movies/books/shows/whatever else, there are always going to be fans of different backgrounds for them.

I refuse to read the last book. In my mind, JKR lost all qualifications to write the "official" Harry Potter series after she killed Sirius in book 5. Evil, evil woman.

Some of the fanfiction out there is better than the original; I read that stuff instead. :P

especially how the kids were named... sooo unoriginal...

i finished it in like ... a week?

it was a bit messed up, but overall was okay
