School Stuff Update

After more than three weeks of mental torture since the exams finished, my long-waited complete set of exam results for this semester finally came through yesterday.
- Accounting: A+
- Economics: A+
- Law: B+
- Mathematics: A+
- Statistics: A+
(I only just realised they ordered the results by subject alphabetically...) As expected, the lowest mark had to be for Law. *sulks* But my overall year GPA is reasonably high—high enough for entry into second-year Law if there are no surprises. So I'm satisfied. ![]()
On the downside, my next year's timetable is quite bad. That is, classes until 5 pm on three days per week. I'm not looking forward to the papers much either.
- LAW 201 Criminal Law
- LAW 211 Public Law
- LAW 299 Legal Research
- ECON 201 Microeconomics
- ECON 211 Macroeconomics
- ECON 241 International Economics
- INTBUS 210 International Business Requirement
- MATHS 208 Data Analysis for Commerce
- Can't decide between Japanese, Psychology or Philosophy for my last paper
Boring classes. Probably a boring post for those who don't care. But I know I always like knowing what papers other students are taking because I'm nosy that way. ![]()

Japanese is my first choice too but the uni don't want to let me take it because they think I may be too advanced in it already. What's more, they won't let me take a more advanced Japanese paper either because Japanese is not my major! Pathetic people...
So I'm just sitting there hoping they'll eventually give me Japanese. -

If the uni decides to allow you to do japanese I'll glady be your tutor
But if you choose something else... sorry XD you're on your own ahahah.
Oh, and those are VERY good marks XD -

Can I complain about my 5-7pm class to make you feel bad for complaining until classes until 5pm?
-

I still don't feel bad Nellie. XD
-

Hey, wow, I'm not the only one who's nosy enough to care about other people's schoolwork! *celebrates*
My timetable's gonna look a LOT like yours once I get into university. =.= -

I hated Accounting, Microeconomics and Macroeconomics... hence the reason I stopped in year 2
Those Law related classes sound interesting, but I'm assuming that's only in name.
If those classes are that boring, I suggest you take the one that will be easiest. That way you can sleep in class ;) -

I never knew you did economics! Do you enjoy it? I'm still "uhming and ahing" over whether I should take it or not.
Congratulations on your results.
-

Congrats on the good marks.
I'll have classes four times a week, but from 0700 to 1500 all those days, plus my two jobs. Oh my god. It's only three subjects, but you seem to have many. Are all of those in one semester???? -

Economics is ok... Not something I like. Netural.

I'd go crazy if I have to take all of those in one semester. No they're spread out between two semesters.
-

Whoo! Congrats on the excellent marks!
I guess the torture paid off. Criminal law was quite interesting for me, though my marks for it didn't reflect that. I totally recommend psychology, I personally love that subject though I guess it's not necessarily everyone's cup of tea. Philosophy is great too, but you really need to be able to understand abstraction. -

Amazing grades! I, for one, am glad that I finish my concentration classes this semester. However, I need to take one more class next semester because it's a pre-requisite for the Medicine School I plan to attend. Because the Federal Grant over here covers only 12 credits and above, I had to sign up for a whole bunch of classes I don't need! I feel kind of bummed out — but I gotta do what I gotta do! In any case, the classes sound really interesting, so I'm curious as to how this "bogus" semester will turn out.

I'm always interested in people's academics

I think I've mentioned this before, but you're pretty much following my dreams - commerce/law.
I hope you're doing something to celebrate those great marks! -

Aw, congrats on those grades, they are great

That list of your classes to take is really long, are you taking them all in one term? -

Congratulations on the report! If only I can hibernate from the Internet until my exams are over. Alas, I have no such willpower.
Pfft. I end at 5pm every day, except on Thursday when my class ends at 9. -

Wow, great grades! Lucky! What's up with that B+ though? Lol, j/k!
I would take Japanese anyway, even if they don't want you to. You're paying them aren't you? Shouldn't they want you to do something you'll get an amazing grade in? Won't it make them look better? -

My choice, Rilla, would be either Psychology or Philosophy. If I chose psychology I would play mind games with the instructor. That is what I did with my instructor & he was a actual physiologist. The instructor and I took an instant dislike to each other and played mind games with each other all semester long. It was a blast.

5pm clases huh...
mondays, 5-8 tuesdays 630-930 PM classes, AND thursdays 530-830...
yeah...
and i have to add it takes 1 hour and half to get home from school...
and after the 930 tuesday, getting home at 11pm, i have to wake up at 630 on wed to get to school for an 830am class... -

Congrats for getting those high grades you earn them

And getting up and getting back is a pain
I take a bus
and takes 1 hour between home and college. I get up around at least around 5 am to 3 - 4 pm. Everyday. And yes, I sleep in the bus to catch some z's
Next Semester is another roller coaster
<<< thats me towards near insanity. -

Whoaaa your marks are really good =D
I think Japanese would be good to learn lol. Learning more languages means that you're multilingual and that now employers prefer multilingual employees =D -

I'd go for psychology. Maybe it's because I'm a medical major but I can't see any of the three subjects as important relative to your major. Japanese, sure you can learn to speak and talk to different people, but I doubt one year will do much. Philosophy is utter bullshit (I'm taking it now). I guess if you like the subject and like thinking abstractly, then its up to you. Psychology, I actually found somewhat interesting, and more than once, you actually get to learn about what crazy people think. Haha, of the three subjects, none of which are particularly useful, but if all fails and you don't know, I'd say go for the subject with an easy teacher and get a nice high grade to boost up your GPA.
Yes, all those people above me say you should take this class because its interesting or related to Law. In reality, its just an elective. Electives just boost up your average so you can have leeway to do a little worse on your core subjects. Anyhow, try not to stress about choosing an elective and, in my opinion, just choose the easiest one so as not to place an emphasis on that one subject. That way, you can stress over the important subjects which are extremely relevant to your major.
Anyways, that's what I believe. For me, electives are just bullshit classes to get high grades in. The main core classes are what are important. Hope that helps.

Congrats on the good grades.
Criminal Law should be fun, and I would go with Psychology. I had a lot of fun with that when I was in college. The best part was getting into abnormal psychology. -

Awesome grades!
I think Japanese would be fun... I wanna take courses just for hahas...but I think University & 2 jobs would kill me. DX -

Congratulations on the grades, Rilla. I can now live vicariously through you in order to get a feeling of what getting good grades actually feels like.

Japanese Japanese Japanese Japanese Japanese.

Well congratulations smarty pants! And you were all worried about it as well.

Go for Japanese - another language would come in handy post-university during the job search.
