Unconventional Study Notes

What do typical school notes look like? Well let me guess... Written top to bottom on lined paper in blue or black pen and perhaps underlined or coloured headings? Essentially, something in the format of these blog entries minus CSS styles and pictures.
So what the heck is this?

The last time I did a mind-map like this was... many, many years ago. But the above is (in real size) an A3 page of university Law notes belonging to my um... *cough* boyfriend *cough*. Truly adorable. ![]()
A few more things I wanted to blog about but school has been crushing me dead tired everyday and I should sleep now because I'm going on our Law Camp tomorrow! First time going on camp since 2003.
I'm going to crash now...

Those notes are SO SO SO adorable! I, myself, am not a fan of the typical sheet notes, start at top, work to bottom. I like to have structure, yes, but to me structure means pretty borders, and doodles. I'll doodle something, like, stick men having a conversation, in the margin— and then THAT will help me remember the correct information during an exam! I probably would have failed Biology if I hadn't had a group of flowers discussing photosynthesis at the top of my notes page!!

Those notes look good
Not as boring as the usual notes. Unfortunately our profs go so fast I have no time for pretty notes. Although I try to use pink and turquoise and other colors as often as possible. -

I don't like making mind maps but that does look cute! My law teacher always gave us unconventional notes to copy, with little pictures to doodle and everything.

Those notes are adorable, so many colors! Mine are boring and black & white. Sorry to hear that univ has been crushing you, however, that mean that it's going good XD

You lucky bumm! I wish -I- got to go to a Law Camp =( In fact, I wish I was IN university Law =.=
I don't get how you're in university Law, though. Is it just that in New Zealand people can go straight into Law? Cuz in Canada, people have to get an undergraduate degree before they can go into Law. And Law school is 3 years, so that means 7 years of study. -

That's really pretty! I've never liked mapping notes, though. They're just too disorganized for lil' obsessive-compulsive me.
Have fun at law camp! I went to a law camp (for high school students) a couple years ago—it was AWESOME. -

Wow that's really interesting! I don't know of anyone who takes notes in a mind-mapesque way.
The only time I used mind-maps were for law assignments, I find they're helpful in planning arguments. Though no use of colours for me.
Mmm natural law. -

Cindy: In NZ and Australia Law and Med are undergraduate degrees.
My conjoint Law degree takes minimum 5 years. But conjoing Law/Engineering would take minimum 6 years. Minimum as in taking on the maximum workload every year so it's quite tiring. People who spread them out more may take 6 or 7 years.
Belinder: I don't know anyone else who do that either. That's why I was really amused when I first saw. -

I like his notes. They look like fun.
For some reason, I just think that it'd be really hard to map things out like that in a lecture. -

those mind-maps are actually quite a good way to learn stuff. So like.. instead of just memorising a whole load of words which is extremely demanding, mind-maps make use of sequential information and small images to stimulate your brain to remember stuff. Your bf is a genius =P

You should have seen mine when I took Earth Science. They were a cross between what your *cough* boyfriend *cough* (if that is how you want to put it, lol) and a outline with my version of shorthand. Only I knew how to read them. My professor made the students turn in the notes before the test and we got participation points for them. He never knew what to do with mine cause he never could read them.

Ryl-Ryl, you're boyfriend's creative! With the colourful texta work and such and such and typical guy-ish handwriting! Aww. I want me one of those.
My Media ones are possibly worse. But at least those notes look more memorable! Nice. -

Those notes can only be described as superfly. What a creative boyfriend! Tell him I'm jealous of his mind. [=
-

interesting set of notes you got there but can you really study from that a few months later?
-

vanessa: Yes he's always been doing that.
-

HAHA! That's really cute, but I' not sure I could actually read such a study note... I wouldn't know where to start (and subsequently continue)... But it looks funny nonetheless. My notes were always classic, even if not using up 100% of space (I have a love of lists) from top to bottom. Otherwise I couldn't read them =P
-

I can see how it would be helpful... I just don't have the patience.
-

Your boyfriend is the first guy I know that actually bother making notes (colourful ones too!) XD All the boys I know are too lazy
-

Looking at this is making me crazy... it's pretty, but my brain would explode if I were to read and try to somehow make sense of it all.
I like bullet points. -

The greatness of it all is that he can understand it.
My boyfriend's handwriting is TERRIBLE.
TERRIBLE!
I envy your ability to have a boyfriend that actually takes notes AND can read it!

As long as you can make sense of the notes, I don't think it matters how they're displayed. Especially if they're in secret code - it makes it harder for people to copy them. ;)
