Oh hail to the start of uni

It was the first day of uni for 2008 on 3 March. I can't believe just how excited the first-years are. During the second half of the year last year, the whole campus would be deserted before 8am. Well, yesterday was the first time I have ever seen so many students on campus at 7.30am.
Well, good on them freshmen. I've been hit with bloody thick coursebooks double the size of last year's plus a deadly uncomfortable cold. Even on this day-off when I could rest to heal my cold I'm forced to sit here and digest a crazy load of law readings. Yesterday during break, my first-year friends decided to sit down at a table and study together excitedly. (Just wait till they get their first wave of assignments and tests next month they'd be crying "Fuck law readings".) In contrast, I dozed off during my first public and criminal law lectures. I only used to do that during stats and maths lectures.
How do you feel towards the start of a new school year? I used to be excited at the start of each high school year because I'd feel like I'm moving up the school hierarchy, and indeed we did get to tell off the people below us. But now it's like... it's like... daunting... just looking at the course content ahead of me...
Sooner or later I'd make the local headlines by jumping off a cliff with a bunch of textbooks and coursebooks.
Significance of Valentines Day

There's always been two different types of female mindsets in relation to couple relationships and Valentines.
The Pragmatist
My sister thinks Valentines is really nothing so special. Why go out when it's so crowded in restaurants and you're going to get crap food and service? (She's not just bullshitting either. She's been going out with her boyfriend for seven or eight years.) Plus it might get pretty awkward when the guy next to your table start proposing to the girl.
The Idealist
Here's the type that expects men to do all the work. And it's also commonly the type to think that Valentines is a must-date day. Because if you don't date on Valentines Day then you're not a couple and you don't like each other. (I'm not making this up either. My friend actually said this to me and it made me feel like crying.
)
I'm surrounded by the second type of girls who make me feel emo by talking about how a guy is supposed to do this and that for a girl. Basically, a nice "surprise" Valentines dinner date with red roses and a box of chocolates. Thursday was meant to be the first un-lonely Valentines in my life but I'm going to start my salsa classes on Thursday. Yay?
So how important do you think spending Valentines together is for a (new) couple? And how do you think it should be compensated if they don't spend Valentines together?
I realise I'm not blogging!

When I'm just starting a new relationship and under emotional stress from it, I just can't really write. To sum it all up though:
- My parents don't really like the idea of me having a Caucasian boyfriend instead of an Asian. Seriously, racists.
- I see Daniel once a week and my dad thinks it's too frequent so he's always yelling my head off whenever I wish to go out.
- I really can't miss Valentines next week.
- And the week after that I really can't miss his 18th birthday either. But he's going out late for dinner and clubbing and I'm not allowed out past 10 pm so... Shit.
- SHIT SHIT SHIT.
Despite all that crap, I'm still juggling my summer school work really nicely. (And by really nicely I mean so far 50/50, 43/43 and a screwed 39/40. I'm a show-off, get over it.
) Umm and Happy Chinese New Years! Hope all you Asians who celebrate it got nice $$$. ![]()
Oh and, check out Amanda's Mummy Pants competition now! I need babies...
