Four years in uni should contain four Winter breaks and four Summer breaks. Should. It’s not like I’m a nerd that studies 24/7, but it just so happens that I never allowed myself to have a real holiday over the past three and a half years.
- 2007 Winter break: tried to study ahead for the next semester in order to keep up good grades to get into Law school.
- 2007 Summer break: enrolled in a Maths paper for fun and work.
- 2008 Winter break: essays and tests for double semester Law papers and work.
- 2008 Summer break: enrolled in a Finance paper, a necessary prerequisite and work.
- 2009 Winter break: essays and tests for double semester Law papers and work. Again.
- 2009 Summer break: enrolled in Company Liquidations paper because it’s one of my favourite subjects and work.
- 2010 Winter break: essays and tests for double semester Law papers and work !@£$% and AMUNC event in Sydney.
- 2010 Summer break: I initially promised myself I will enjoy this break with no study at all. But I’ve already made the grave decision to enrol in whichever paper that I have ever the slightest bit of interest in.
Who said uni was freer than school? I can’t stop the voluntary self torture, and hence I probably can’t complain.
I definitely need a proper break for revitalisation but alas! I expect 2011 to be quite the same.

I never expected taking up two jobs in the Christmas period to be this tiring! I’ve been working eight days straight but I finally got a break on Christmas day!
Because of that I had some trouble getting the Snark Secret Santa present done on time but I got it in yay.
Trip to Asia
Sorry for the immense lack of updates! Right after my last post I took a great 18-day trip to Taiwan and Japan for seeing friends and relatives and maple sight-seeing in Japan.

It was terribly tiring touring with a tour group in Japan (waking up at 6am and getting back to the hotel at 10pm), and I ate like a pig in Taiwan for the love of cheap and godly foods. It was also crazy how the Taiwanese Winter was hotter than our New Zealand Summer. I walked around with sleeveless clothing in Taiwan and people looked at me like I was mad. No, they were the mental ones wearing scarves and huge coats under such heat!

New MacBook
My lovely new baby. With the low New Zealand Dollar, New Zealand was probably the cheapest place in the world to get the new unibody MacBook. But I bought it in Taiwan during the Info Expo because they had slight discounts and some ‘deals’. I also spent a fortune to get it upgraded to 4GB RAM. However much I spent on it, I feel like every dollar was worth it; fast, pretty and awesome new trackpad ‘moves’. I don’t have a lot of Christmas presents (only two or so because most friends are overseas), but this is the best Christmas present I gave to myself.

Yes I now have my stubbornly PC-loving friends jealous.
End of 2008
I’ve had a year of mad up’s and down’s, and I’m ready to take on a new year of challenge – I think. I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a wonderful New Year.

Since I have a design block and a bit of a writing block now, I find myself bored from time to time. So firstly, I got myself back into Pokemon Ruby and now I’m officially back into MapleStory. Seriously, ouch.
I loved Pokemon when I was little and I still find it great. I was stuck halfway in Ruby a couple of years ago and never broke through it. But now, it’s just all fun again – recollecting childhood times. Who here has never played Pokemon before? You need to get off the Internet and get into it!
I sigh at the thought of MapleStory. I got married in the game this February to a great guy. After he and many friends quit, the addiction gradually brushed off and I have not touched it until this month. Now what? It’s holiday time again and almost everyone is back into it, including him. (What can I say? A wife has to follow her husband!) So I logged on to say hi but I… couldn’t get my bum off it. From the sweet girl in February to the gothic bum in December…

February vs December MapleStory look
This is why you shouldn’t start any MMORPQ games like MapleStory and if you ever do, don’t get married.
To counter my addiction, I’m going to set up a daily holiday timetable to ensure I also do other things I enjoy: reading, writing and chatting. I am not going to let myself get into that mega 11am-1am game routine like the previous summer. I have to admit that was great fun though. But how do you battle addictions?
