For a hundred years

spring,
                lifts
summer,
                drifts
autumn,
                falls
winter,
                calls

and
                then,

darkness,
                steers
falling,
                tears
heart,
                beats
on,
                holding
on,
                until

lips,
                meet
Beauty,
                sleeps
                                and,
spring,
                lifts,
                                again.

Contest entry for Skyefairy’s Inspiring Creativity Contest for the theme of Fair Tales. It illustrates the continuation of life (seasons) throughout the hundred years while Sleeping Beauty remains unconscious.

Powerlessness

Did people not ever say…
that Time is a cure for pain
But as I took a stroll down our Memory lane
tears replaced your fingers again
in caressing my cheeks.

If we were ever destined to meet
Why did Destiny break its promise
and make you take away from me
the past warmth in your cold heart I seek.

The Finale

Before I leave this once-enchanting stage
I think…

If I could turn back time,
I’d go before we first met
and command my footsteps
so we walk in parallel lines that never intersect

Or if I could control fate,
I’d hold you tight against me
and let our hearts beat side by side
so I could never taste the sourness of regret

Or if only… I had enough will within me,
I’d leave your images behind
and lock you out of my mind—

So then
I’d be safe from the piercing thorns of heartless coldness
where I lie in my little world I nickname — cage.
